King of The Roads 2024

May 18th 2024 - May 19th 2024

We were blessed with some good wind @ Mylor Yacht Harbour  near Falmouth in Cornwall, with six full races completed on Saturday

Despite an iffy forecast the Carrick Roads delivered some good racing in beautiful surroundings with great support by the Industry and local sponsors.

The faithful were rewarded with a full days racing at the second King of the Roads event in Mylor

In the run up to the event with the forecast changing its mind like a back bench MP we went from stoked to fearful and back again!

Coastland at Mylor is such a great location for racing that another year without wind would have been a real body blow.

But as the phrase goes if you don’t go you won’t know, and for those that made the trip and signed up their faith was rewarded with a full race schedule on Saturday and the only reason racing was brought to a close on Saturday was that the fleet were too fatigued to continue and retired to Cafe Mylor for some much needed food and of course Healey’s Rattler Cornish Cider.

We reconvened on Sunday and those early risers who felt so inclined had a free yoga session with Clarie from Sol Seek yoga in the idyllic open air overlooking the Carrick Roads in the early morning sunshine.

Although there was not a breath of wind on Sunday the crowd enjoyed a Downwind Foil paddle clinic from Glen Eldridge from Ocean Sports Centre and a few, electric winch powered, tow up sessions on the shore line. With lots of visitors and manufacturers on hand to answer questions about the latest kit and developments.

With no prospect of contestible wind conditions racing was cancelled for the day and Prize giving brought forward to allow those who had long journeys home to head off, although with the sun beaming down on the Carrick Roads in Falmouth harbour there din’t seem to be a huge appetite for people to dash off. A huge thank you to the guys at Wingfoilkit for putting on the event and the team of volunteers who made it all work.

A full fleet report and podiums will be coming soon. Check out the photos in the gallery below provided by Elliot Glynn
