Election & Re-Election Candidates

This year we have a new candidate Sylwia Zeleszkiewicz to replace Steph Bridge who is stepping down after many years of service on the board.

Peter Stephens and Dan Charlish are standing for re-election to the board find out more about the candidates below..

Sylwia Zeleszkiewicz

Was born in Poland, living in the UK since 2006. She says..

My passion for kitesurfing started in 2016, when my husband and I began our kite journey at Camber beach.
Since that day, we haven’t stopped much. We taught our then 8-year-old son how to kite, and after his very first board start, we became a
kitesurfing-obsessed family.

In 2020, everything changed! We made the decision to open our own kitesurfing school. That was the best decision we could ever make.

“Girls Kite Together” is my first baby. I can easily say the biggest female kitesurfing community in the UK was born in Infinity Sport Kitesurfing arms.

GKT is my best expression about kitesurfing: an individual approach, giving space, being patient, encouraging, knowingwhen to stop or cancel if needed, and being the best friend. I have created a safe space for many women who now kite and will continue to do so, and who now bring more women to kiting.

Yes, that’s my biggest goal:
To motivate kitesurfers to join competitions and reassure them it’s doable and achievable. I plan to organize different types of events: demo days incorporated with comp talk, coaching sessions, and last but not least, a huge project—my biggest dream is to bring more kids and teenagers to the sport to provide kitesurfing continuity.

Peter Stephens

Pete has been in the watersports game since the beginning.

Owning a successful windsurfing shop in the West country through the hay days of windsurfing, he then spearheaded the kitesurfing scene in Cornwall in the early 2000’s and to this day created the biggest community kitesurfing club.

‘Sick Air’ hosted many infamous events both on and off the water during the noughties.

Now an avid wingfoiler, kitewaverider and all round expert sailor Pete has been an integral part of the bksa board for almost 5 years.

Alongside his cafe in beautiful Mylor, Pete still organises kite and wing events and lobbies to drive and protect watersports in the west and teaches in the summer.

Dan Charlish

Dan is the brainchild behind the multiple world record breaking Kitesurfing Armada.

He is a pillar of the kitesurfing community and two time winner of ‘dedication to kitesurfing’ Award.

Alongside his day job of running a snow sports and mental health charity, Dan is an active kitesurfer and has been an integral part of the BKSA team for almost a decade.
