Exciting news!

We now have a number of new membership upgrades to help keep you and your equipment safe, at really affordable costs for all our current members.

 

There are three upgrade options available to all members…

Who can take these up?

Any current valid BKSA member

 

How do they work?

Any valid member can buy these insurance add ons, they are annual products and run from Jan 1st to Dec 31st,each calendar year

But you dont have to wait until January to upgrade, you can get cover right now.

For 2026 we are giving a 50% discount as we are launching in the middle of the year.

What are the three upgrades and how much are they?

Efoil/Foil assist 3rd party liability cover  £35 a year

Peace of mind to cover your liability should you have an accident whilst using your E-Foil or Foil Assist kit

Equipment insurance £3000 extra cover  £15 a year

Increase your insurance cover from theft fire or extraordinary damage, to £4000

Equipment insurance £5000 extra cover  £25 a year

Got lots of kit? Increase your insurance cover from theft fire or extraordinary damage, to £6000

E-foil/Foil assist upgrade:

We have now managed to negotiate with our insurers to extend our third party insurance cover to support this growing discipline of electric powered and assisted foiling.

What’s covered?

Our new e-foil/foil assist insurance cover covers the participant for third party liability 5m cover in the same way as  our kitesurf and wingfoil cover for efoil and foil assist units used in accordance with our code of conduct (found here).

We are delighted to be able to offer this new product and feel it will help our members and potentially new members get out there and enjoy this amazing new discipline legitimately, safely and in line with a lot of new harbourmaster and controlled water area regulations.

Equipment cover:

The cost and types of equipment is both rising and expanding in diversity with kites, wings, foils and now battery powered foils.

We have reacted to feedback around protecting your valuable kit and have come up with two affordable levels of extra kit cover.

Standard BKSA membership includes £1000 of equipment cover (that’s doubled from 2025 with no extra cost!)

We appreciate most people might have kit worth more than this level and have negotiated two higher cover levels £3000 and £5000, (you get the standard £1000 as well so your actual level of cover is £4000 or £6000).

What DOES this cover ?

Well it doesn’t cover trying megaloops and failing so you can’t go out and trash your kit irresponsibly on the water, or claim for general wear and tear, but it does cover:

  • The policy will defend claims made against you for negligence whilst participating in the authorised and recognised activities of the BKSA and operating within their stipulated guidelines. 
  • Theft, fire & damage in transit.

Loss from your car (in transit) / Home:

  • Equipment must be stored out of sight in a locked boot or covered luggage area whilst in a vehicle that has been fully secured.
  • Overnight theft from a motor vehicle will be excluded unless the vehicle is in a locked garage, in any secure building at the club premises or at the home premises of a member, providing it has been secured.

Loss in Air transit:

  • Loss whilst in air transit, including where the airline loses the equipment, subject to the applicable geographical limits and policy terms.

Fire/theft from your house or a secure location:

  • Portable items must be locked within the building and entry has been gained by forcible and violent means.

What it DOESN’T cover ?

  • Misuse, any claims relating to deliberate or criminal acts.
  • Wear and tear
  • Damage whilst in use
  • Operating in restricted areas or in contradiction to the stipulated guidelines / code of conduct.
  • Travel insurance – this policy is not a replacement for travel insurance. You will need to make separate insurance arrangements for medical costs, lost luggage
